Wrestling Wraps Up Successful Season, Jimmy Buggy '25 Places 8th in the State

The Archmere wrestling team had a successful winter season, highlighted by a 42-28 win over Concord and a 43-28 win over Wilmington Friends. Juniors Jimmy Buggy, Jason Suydam and Seamus Naughter each won over 20 matches this season. Senior Trevor Huffman finished the season with a record of 13-4. The sophomore class showed great improvement this winter and were key contributors in the regular season victories.
Post season highlights included the DIAA Independent Conference Championships, held at Saint Mark’s. This meet was a State Qualifying Meet for the DIAA State Championships. Ten teams participated in the weekend long event, with four Auks placing in the top eight in their weight classes. In addition, Jimmy Buggy and Jason Suydam qualified for the Individual State Tournament.

At the DIAA Individual State Tournament held at Cape Henlopen High School last weekend, Jimmy Buggy won two matches on his way to place 8th overall in the state. He finished the season with a final record of 30 wins and 10 losses.

Congratulations to the wrestling team on a fantastic season!
